ABOUT T/D/R

A daily approach for living a more connected life.

What began as a long, late lunch turned into a lifelong friendship / a search for meaning on the cusp of life transitions / an approach, journal, and community of multi-generational women committed to asking the big questions and living every day in a way that looks right to them.

Hi, I’m Ariel Upton and I’m the Co-Founder of T/D/R.

I am the guide behind the TODAY I DID IT RIGHT™ you see today, host of The Share Community, and creator of The MCC - The More Connected Challenge and The More Connected Course.

Currently:

  • Living in Lund, Sweden

  • Sharing slices of daily rightness on Instagram

  • Enjoying every moment spent in the garden

  • My favorite life’s little ritual is spending 7 minutes and 30 seconds each morning reflecting on how I’m doing it right, right now, over a cup of coffee with whole milk

But T/D/R is so much more than just me.

We didn’t set out to create a journal, a course, or a community. We were simply two women, a 20-something and a 60-something, on the cusp of transition, that had big questions - the same questions - the most pressing being: “What do you want?”

What we wanted was one in the same: When asked what I want to do with my life, I want to go to bed at the end of the day saying today I did it right.

The year was 2011. I was on the cusp of graduating college and Betsy was on the cusp of retirement. While we weren't experiencing the same transition, we were navigating enormous life transitions at the same time. And we were both asking ourselves the same question: "How do we do this right for us (instead of somebody else)?"

So we started looking for the answer.

We spent 8 years studying what doing it right meant to us and filling dozens of notebooks with our observations and aha moments. We talked, and wrote, and debated the moments that felt the most right - the moments we were joyful, engaged, content, fulfilled. We talked through the moments that felt wrong - why did they feel wrong? What were we doing?

Like scientists, we observed our behaviors, actions, and thought patterns. We researched and studied our actual lives. We didn’t talk about what we aspired to be, or what we dreamed of, we talked about what we actually did - how we spent our time, where we spent our time, who we spent our time with.

Using this process, we realized that living our lives on a daily basis was the true way to do it right.

The Approach gave us the framework we needed to practice finding and refining our own definitions of rightness. It gave us a new way to be. It gave us a new way to navigate our world.

T/D/R isn’t about long-term goals, to-do’s, or plans. This is an Approach designed to help you live your right life today, tomorrow, and all the days after that.

TODAY I DID IT RIGHT™ is the creation of Ariel Upton and Betsy Tomlinson, two souls connected across a 40-year age gap, who spent a decade answering the question: how do we create lives that look right to us?

Through years of observation, paying attention, conversation, and dozens of journals, we created the T/D/R Approach to help ourselves and women of all ages experience more connection in their lives and do one right thing every day.

The TODAY I DID IT RIGHT™ Connection Journal provides a flexible, yet guided tool to help women learn The Approach and start and stick with a daily journal habit. The Share is our private community of multi-generational women living across the world, taking the daily steps to live a more connected life that looks right to them.
